Oscar: forecasts and scandals
Already this Sunday in Los Angeles, the winners of the main cinema award will be announced. Some directors, screenwriters and actors will make fiery speeches and receive well-deserved figurines, while others will hide the bitterness of defeat. Let’s try to guess who this year will be the triumph of the Oscars.
Although the results of the award will be known only on Sunday, Oscar 2015 already has its own record holders. These are the films “Birdman” and “Hotel” Grand Budapest “, received nine nominations. However, it can still change, because it is important not the number of nominations, but the number of figurines received. Let’s see who they prophesy.
Films and directors
Eight films were nominated this year in the Best Film category: Sniper, Birdman, Adolescence, Grand Budapest Hotel, Simulation Game, Selma, Theory of Everything and Obsession Of these, two paintings tell about famous scientists: “The game of imitation” – about British mathematics, who cracked the fascist code “Enigma”, Alan Turing, and “Theory of everything” – about the physicist Stephen Hawking, about his life, love, science and It’s doubtful that one of these films will be able to repeat the success of the “Mind Games” of 2001. In any case, the favorites of the race and they do not count.
The film “Selma” about Martin Luther King and the black rights movement in the United States is also not considered the main contender for the victory. Let me remind you that last year, the winner of the Oscar in the Best Film category was the picture “12 Years of Slavery” dedicated to the country’s slave-owning past.
Bookmakers consider Richard Linklater’s film “Adolescence” to be the main contender for the award. This is the story of childhood and youth of a boy named Mason. The film shows 12 years of his life. The most ordinary life, with troubles and joys, discoveries and disappointments. The film was shot for 12 years, the main character was played by the same growing child. The picture did not have a clear plot – the script was rewritten every year. Film academics could not help but appreciate such a long cinematic experiment.
If you believe the predictions of bookmakers, Wes Anderson’s film “Grand Budapest Hotel” is in second place. This is a tragicomedy about the adventures of hotel manager Monsieur Gustav and his assistant corridor Mustafa Zero. An elderly client of the hotel bequeathed Gustav an expensive picture, he was charged with murder, therefore friends didn’t find anything better than to steal a picture and run away. Everything that happens is like a farce with colorful decorations and funny costumes (by the way, the film received one of the nominations for them).
Closes the top three film “Birdman”, the story of an aging actor who once played a superhero, and now most of all wants to get rid of an obsessive role. To do this, he decides to put the play on Broadway and play the main role himself. A good idea, as one would expect, turns into a disaster. The film was shot almost without editing glues, so the actors really had a theatrical task – to play long scenes in one breath.
In the nomination for Best Director, we are expected to see the same faces: Inarritu with Birdman, Richard Linklater and his Adolescence, Wes Anderson with Grand Budapest, Morten Tildum and The Game of Imitation. The only exception is Bennett Miller with the movie Fox Hunter. This is the story of multi-millionaire John Dupont, who creates a fight club on the territory of his estate. His children’s complexes, crazy ideas and addiction to cocaine lead to tragedy.
However, the favorites here are located almost the same as in the previous nomination. Ahead is “Adolescence” by a large margin, followed by “Birdman” and closes the three leaders of the “Grand Budapest Hotel”.
Actors and actresses
Nominated for Best Actor are Steve Carell (Fox Hunter), Bradley Cooper (Sniper), Benedict Cumberbatch (Simulation Game), Michael Keaton (Birdman) and Eddie Redmayne (Theory of Everything) ) I think it will be interesting if the award goes to Karell – after all, the comedian actor had to seriously reorganize for a dramatic role. But bookmakers portend victory to Michael Keaton, and Carell, on the contrary, put in last place.
Marion Cotillard (“Two Days, One Night”), Felicity Jones (“Theory of Everything”), Julianne Moore (“Still Alice”), Rosamund Pike (“Disappeared”) and Reese Witherspoon (“The Disappeared”) will compete in the nomination for “Best Actress”. Wild “). Bookmakers offer the most unprofitable bets on Julianne Moore, which means she has the greatest chance of winning. The actress played a professor of linguistics, who fell ill with Alzheimer’s. A woman begins to fail her own brain, she forgets words. According to bookmakers, the worst chance of winning is with the Oscar winner and one of Dior’s favorite models Marion Cotillard, as well as with actress and model Dolce & Gabbana Felicity Jones.
Robert Duvall (Judge from the Judge), Ethan Hawke (father of the main character from Adolescence), Edward Norton (bull actor from Birdman), Mark Ruffalo (fighter Dave Schultz) will compete in the nomination for Best Supporting Actor. from the Fox Hunter)
